The course fee is only one part of the decision. You also need to know what the fee includes, what you will buy for projects, and whether you can manage the time and travel required to attend.
At VFA, the published indicative tuition is ₹1,50,000 for the one-year Fashion Designing & Boutique Management diploma and ₹2,00,000 for the one-year Fashion Designing & Styling diploma. Ask for the current written offer before paying. Materials, taxes and other inclusions should not be assumed.
Compare like with like
A weekend short course, a one-year private diploma and a university degree are different commitments. Comparing only the rupee amount can hide a difference in scope, teaching time or credential.
Start with the work you want to learn. Then compare duration, actual class hours, supervised practice, access to equipment, assessment and support. Ask for the awarding body's exact name and credential wording if that matters to your next step.
The VFA course hub can help you compare its two programmes. It is not a price comparison across all Bengaluru institutes.
Ask for the inclusions in writing
A useful fee sheet identifies the course and intake, the total amount payable, any payment stages, and what is included. Ask about:
- Registration or admission charges.
- Materials and project fabrics.
- Drafting tools and machine access.
- Assessments, certificates or exhibitions.
- Portfolio photography or printing.
- Taxes and any separately payable items.
The answer may differ by programme. A statement that machines are available does not establish that you have unlimited access outside class. A portfolio module does not automatically include every cost of a shoot.
If an offer or discount is mentioned, ask for its period, conditions and the final amount payable. Do not rely on an old social post.
Build a budget you can update
| Cost area | Your amount | How to check it |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition and compulsory charges | Leave blank until quoted | Current written fee sheet |
| Project materials | Estimate from actual project list | Faculty guidance and local quotations |
| Personal tools | Buy from the course list | Ask what is already provided |
| Travel | Use your actual route | Trial journey at class time |
| Portfolio and presentation | Depends on programme requirements | Written list of compulsory work |
| Practice space or equipment | Depends on your situation | Confirm access before buying |
Leave uncertain figures blank rather than making the total look precise. Once you have the actual project list, replace estimates with quotations or real spending.
Keep a small separate allowance for replacing a failed sample or buying an additional consumable. The amount should come from your own circumstances, not a universal percentage.
Account for the timetable
Recent VFA admissions material gives Boutique Management classes Monday–Friday, 10am–1pm, and Design & Styling classes Monday–Friday, 2pm–5pm. Confirm the timetable for the intake you are considering.
Time can affect the budget. If you reduce paid work, arrange childcare or travel daily, include the practical impact in your decision. This is not a reason to treat your learning as a loss; it is a reason to choose with a clear picture.
Do not assume a weekend batch exists to solve a schedule conflict. Ask about the actual offer.
Understand payment and withdrawal terms
Before paying, ask what amount secures admission, when further payments are due, and what happens if you withdraw or the provider changes the schedule. Request a receipt identifying the programme and payment.
Do not assume VFA offers a particular instalment plan, scholarship or refund. Those terms require confirmation. A counsellor's explanation should be reflected in the written conditions you accept.
Keep the fee sheet and correspondence together. It will be easier to resolve a later question if both sides are looking at the same offer.
Does the more expensive course have the better outcome?
Price does not establish course fit. A learner seeking Indian womenswear and custom-order skills may prefer a different programme from someone seeking Western construction and a styling portfolio.
Inspect the curriculum, the work examples and the learning support. Ask what each programme expects you to complete. No honest comparison can turn tuition into a guaranteed salary, business turnover or number of customers.
The useful decision is whether the learning matches your goal and whether the complete commitment is manageable.
You can contact VFA for the current fee and inclusions sheet or request a studio visit. The VFA Jayanagar Maps listing identifies the location; arrange the visit before travelling.
